They have their advantages in that they help the soil to get fresh air and eat the harmful organisms found in the soil. If you do not have an issue with them being in your compound you can let them be. However in case you cannot stand trying trapping them. Set a live trap where a bucket if put under the hole waiting for them to fall inside.

Mole traps can be easily found therefore read the instructions given by the manufacturer so that you know the correct way to set the trap. The most effective and tested method has been spring trap. This is whereby one makes a small surface in the area flat and places the trap over the surface. Wait for the moment a mole will fall inside.

Once you have followed the indicated steps to arm the trap wait for the mole to be caught. If it takes too long before the mole is trapped move it to a different position or in another tunnel. Spring trap should be set in areas where moles are many. Therefore ensure it is set up in an active tunnel. This trap- should be covered with a bucket to keep pets away.

Before setting them ensure that the mole has settled. In case it is still digging more mole hills you will get distracted and it could disappear for some time. Look for the hills that get bigger every morning. Set you tramp in one of them. You can use a stick to push deep into the ground and tell how far the tunnel has gone.

The trap should be strategically located in that no distraction prevents the moles from being trapped. In case there is soil around it removes since it could block the passage of the mole. Check to ensure everything is well placed before waiting for the results. However do not forget to check the trap frequently to see if the mole has been caught.

Ensure the entrance is not sealed once you cover the hole. The mole hill should be completely sealed off in that no light is penetrating. Light will scare away the moles and they will not get pass through the tunnel hence they might not get trapped. Check to confirm if the trap is well set before sealing the mole hill.

There are people who have perfected the art of catching moles and find the job exciting. Before you become obsessed with hunting moles look for the active tunnels first. You do not want to waste your time and money on nothing. Be patient even if you go for months without a catch just in case you want to be in the business.
