Why Grass Should Not Be Cut When It Is Wet And Slippery

By Paul Young

The abode is the best place to take a rest and relax. So many years are spent in earning and saving money to buy a house. Even when already in possession of one, couples still continue spending money to improve and beautify it. Improvement is not just on the structure but also on the immediate surroundings. The spread of grass is one very valuable part which can be serviced by lawn care Terrell TX.

Humans have always had the knack of bringing nature at its doorstep. It indeed is rare to find a home without greenery. Most yards in the suburban homes always have carpets of well manicured lawns. And it really is no surprise that the owners of these patches are very protective of this turf. That is why we always see a sign that says keep off the grass.

Maintaining lawns is a very enjoyable activity and is a good stress reliever. Attractive surroundings can add value to a residence. An individual has to invest in effort, time, and money to keep it well maintained and healthy. These are regularly inspected for invading weeds, pests, and insects. If this is left alone, it will be invaded by weeds and other plants.

Most homeowners have mowers that are used to trim the lawns. Mowing these plants is an important factor in keeping it healthy. Experts agree that the trimmed parts should not be more than one third of the leaf. Removing more than this will result in slow regrowth which will expose the soil and encourage insects to move in and weeds to grow on it.

There is no existing standard as when a lawn should be trimmed. There are people who just do it like it is already a daily routine and are very conscious of the lushness of greenery. Others act on instinct and only trim these when they see there is a need. Overgrowth may be the result of soil fertility and the weather patterns in a particular locality.

Mowers should also be properly well kept and maintained especially the blade component. These should be kept very sharp so it can cut cleanly. Dull blades will not cut through the leaves but would just tear it. The uneven cut will be prone to dry quickly which will render the spread ugly to look at with patches of white and brown mixed with the greens.

Do not cut grass when it really is not dry. It is very slippery when extra wet. Accidents have happened involving the elderly who are not mindful of it and just proceed in cutting it. This wetness will act as a lubricant which just makes the blades of mowers slip through it without actually penetrating it. If the clippings are not so thick, it is best to leave it as it is.

Like all plants, grass needs to be fertilized too. Studies have shown that fertilized lawns have a lesser nutrient loss and water runoff compared to none fertilized ones. These plants should be fertilized every year to maintain its density. It is also good to water it right after it has been fertilized as this will enhance the effectiveness of fertilizers.

People in modern times just do not have enough time for household chores anymore. A majority who are at home just spend their time inside the house resting and rejuvenating after work. The time spent at home is considerably lesser compared to the past. Sparing some money to engage someone to care for your greenery is not that of a burden especially if you have lots of greenbacks.
