If that is the case, then what shall you do during autumn? Of course you still have to do some maintenance. Raking as well as mulching will do better for your plants. Mulching can help plants in gathering some nutrients. Aside from that, you should also remove those dead parts instead of leaving it like that.

In addition, continue on watering your garden as a preparation for winter. Cold season can really be tough for them in getting some water. Deep-watering can be helpful for trees. So when are you going to prune them? The option would be at late winter and the other one is on early spring.

The bottom line here is you must certainly avoid pruning during fall season. So stop your urges before it could damage your plants. Aside from that, you may remove the dead portions but never trim it during that season.
