By Joseph Morris

A tree is simply a plant with an elongated trunk. There are different sizes and types of trees in the world. For a tree to survive in a certain area, the climate needs to be favorable for its growth. Worldwide, trees are used for different purposes. They prevent property from being damaged because of their ability to break the strength of wind. Here are facts regarding Tree and stump removal.

Some of the functions of trees include providing shade on a sunny day, acting as a source of food and medicine, and being used as fuel. The main structural part of a tree is the stem. The functions of stems include giving support to the branches and leaves and holding the tree firmly in position. It also provides minerals and water for the survival of the tree.

The stem is divided into three layers. The three layers are the outer, middle, and the inner layer. Each layer has its own features and functions. Transportation of water and mineral salts to branches and leaves is done through the inner layer. This layer also provides structural support. The middle layer has photosynthetic cells which are responsible for photosynthesis. Lastly, the outer layer facilitates gaseous exchange and is also waterproof.

Stems have various uses depending on type of tree. They can be used as structural supports for timber houses. They can be processed to produce timber that can be used for construction of the timber roof structure. The timber can be further processed to produce floor tiles.

Creation of furniture and production of fuel is also done using trees. Cutting, trimming and processing of trees is usually done to make the stems suitable for use. Cutting of trees can occur using various methods. The use of sharp tools like axes is the traditional method in use in most places. This method is tiring and time consuming.

Nowadays power saws are commonly used to cut down trees because they are very effective and take a short period of time. Stump refers to the lower part left of the tree which is attached to the roots. It is usually left after cutting down trees. Stumps should be removed from the ground because they can be used for different purposes. These purposes include calculation of the age of the tree, fuel, and making furniture.

The reason as to why people remove stumps is because they occupy a lot of useful space. Since they have roots that hold them into the ground, they are not easy to remove. Digging the stumps out is one of the removal methods applied. Stumps are usually dug out intact if they are meant to be preserved so that they can be used later.

Apart from digging out stumps manually, a machine known as a grinder can also be used. In order to remove the stump, it has to be shredded into pieces when grinding. A lot of care is needed when using grinders because they throw small pieces of timber into the air. These pieces of timber may cause harm to the eyes. It is therefore necessary to wear protective attire such as goggles, gloves, and apron when working.
